our turtle has been with us since infancy. now alone cause its partner passed away last year. Ruby loves to bask on its log, all four feet stretched out like its working on a tan! now Ruby's too big for its tank and, we do not have the room for bigger one. Ruby will try to stand up and wave to you when hungry. If the pellets are long enough, Ruby will take it right from you (but watch your fingers, LOL!).We are willing to assist in delivering Ruby to a new home, if we can. It has been suggested to us to let Ruby loose in a local pond. We are doing all we can to avoid that. Flyers have been posted at work and local pet shops, to no avail. Our hopes are that this posting will find Ruby her new forever home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-13-00216Musk Turtle
Rescued twenty-five years ago from a local lake, 'Mr. T' grew from the size of a quarter to the size of a lemon. He lived with our mother, who passed away recently, and sadly needs a new forever home. Mr. T comes with a tank and gravel, his favorite lounging rock, filter, and our remaining supply of turtle pellets. We believe he/she is a Musk Turtle.

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-07-00028Ball python (male)
Dinky is currently living in a neglectful, ill equip home. He's become extremely aggressive and temperamental, to the point it's very difficult to clean his cage or feed him - the woman who owns him hasn't done or tried to do either of these for a matter of months. Dinky's mostly in the care of myself and the woman's husband, both of us living in the house with Dinky's owner [who has agreed to let him go if we can find him a new home]. He's in desperate need of rehabilitation and a health check up, as well as a more comfortable and healthy home. PLEASE use caution when handling him, he does hiss and has attempted to lunge at us (though no one has been bitten, we're not certain if he's desperate enough to resort to that) repeatedly. Due to his owner assaulting myself recently and being hospitalised by the police, she understands it's finally time to let Dinky go. The only other option for Dinky is to have him euthanised, as he's too violent for us to understand how to care for him and we financially can't support him anymore. None of us want to see him put down needlessly; he was a friendly snake before he was neglected for so long. It's very difficult to take a photo of him, but I will within the coming days when I'm available and he's less agitated. (Less)

Healthy, California King, approx. 32 inches. Gentle, easy to handle. Was eating vigorously - up to two mice a week - now off its feed for almost two months. No visible weight loss or symptoms of any illness - may be a seasonal thing. I'm looking for someone with real knowledge of herp care who can experiment with various eating possibilities, and am happy to donate approx. 40 large frozen mice. Mark

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-27-00346Red eared sliders (male)
Hello everyone. My name is Stefany, I'm a young professional. My younger brother decided that it was a good idea to buy four baby red eared sliders his senior year in high school without consulting anyone or realizing the responsibility they came with. Then he went away to college and I agreed to care for them until he found someone to care for them but unfortunately that isn't happening and I can no longer have them. I live alone and I travel often, also my job requires I am out for most of the day if I'm in the city at all. I love animals which is why I decided to help keep them until he found a place but he isn't doing anything, and I can no longer have them. I'm moving into a new place that does not allow pets whatsoever and am also leaving the country for the month of December. I currently have all four of them in the biggest aquatic tank I could find, if anyone if willing to take them and care for them. There are 3 males and one female, they are great! They deserve a home that can take care of them, so if anyone has any tips or anyone would like to adopt them PLEASE PLEASE don't hesitate to email me! Thank you very much. (Less)

Her name is Mrs cuddles and she is extremely friendly. She absolutely loves being out of her cage and will usually just sleep. She has 2 large rats a week. She is roughly 9 feet long and fairly wide. Reason for wanting to get rid of her is because I dont have the room to accommodate her nor the time to spend with her that she likes and deserves.

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-22-00152Turtle Redearred Slidr (male)
I have two male red earred sliders that need to be re-homed. I rescued them from someone who was going to through them in the trash dumpster 12 years ago. They were tiny so I am guessing they are no more than 13 years old. As you can see from the picture they do not have the proper lighting. There is no room for fixtures where I had to put the tank. I have compensated for that with daily time in natural sunlight or proper lighting while they were in a tote. Due to illness I can't do that anymore & I am extremely concerned for their health. The tank they are in is about 4 ft long, 18' wide & 20 inches high. If you would like the tank, magnum 350 canister filter and heater I would just ask for $200 for everything payable to me. I am located in Westchester County, NY. approx 30 minutes from the George Washington Bridge & 20 from the Tappan Zee Bridge. I am physically unable to deliver the tank to you, but if you only want the boys I could bring them to you within a reasonable distance. But, I am only physically able to drive about 30 minutes. I could probably push it a bit more. These guys have great personalities. They LOVE when I was able to set up an obstacle course in the livingroom & have them climb & crawl under things. They also love to rearrange furniture & decorations in their tank, but because of my illness I have to keep the tank bare for easier cleaning. They both know 'no bite' command, although if frightened they will ignore it. The guy on the right is happiest basking, the other one likes shell scratches & being swaddled & held. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting Reptiles & More in New York
Reptiles & More can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Reptiles are interesting animals. Many types of reptiles and amphibians are kept as exotic pets. Snakes, turtles, iguanas, and frogs are popular examples. Keeping a reptile as a pet is a tremendous responsibility. Many reptile owners discover that owning a reptile is not as rewarding as they had hoped. Reptiles do not bond with people the way mammals can, and are sometimes neglected for that reason. Also, many people purchase young, small reptiles without being aware of or prepared for their eventual adult size. For example, Burmese Pythons are often bought as pets when they are about two feet long. However, many do not realize that Burmese Pythons are among the largest snakes in the world, with adults averaging 23 feet in length and weighing hundreds of pounds! There is now an established invasive population of Burmese Pythons in Florida due to pet owners releasing the snakes into the wild. Scientists believe these huge snakes will keep spreading out and will one day inhabit one third of the United States! Some owners are not prepared for the long lifespan of a pet reptile. Some species of turtles are known for their extreme longevity. Iguanas can grow to be six feet long and then live for 20 years. Sadly, many captive reptiles suffer from dehydration and kidney problems, poor nutrition, and all other manner of neglect. A person who is truly ready to commit to a reptile pet can alleviate some suffering by adopting an animal rather than purchasing new.
