Rescue Me ID: 15-07-28-00140Bearded Dragon (male)

Reptile/Amphibian    Age: Young Adult

My bearded dragon was thrown onto me by my irresponsible niece, and due to me being poor I can't very well take care of him myself. He isn't mistreated, I take care of him to the best of my abilities. He's not very shy, not aggressive. He absolutely loves to jump off of things however. Tank, heating light, critter cage for crickets, cricket food, cricket water, all included. Due to the aforementioned irresponsibility of my niece, he has a smallish tank and it would be really nice bonus if someone was able to afford a nice tank for him. I am a poor 15 year old with no job. His name is Horus.

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-22-00306Green Iguana (male)

Reptile/Amphibian    Age: Adult

Dexter was a beautiful, sweet iguana that loved attention, however when I moved in with my boyfriend it was clear that the dogs scared him terribly. He's since been in the Florida room, but he's still anxious and aggressive. It breaks my heart, but I've been considering finding him a better home instead of (what I feel is)neglecting him. Yesterday he nosed so hard that he drew blood, so I know this is a necessary step. He deserves to be healthier and happier. Please help by taking in my baby and treating him better than I can. Thank you.

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-18-00501Green Iguana (male)

Reptile/Amphibian    Age: Young Adult

Looking for an owner that has the time and know-how to properly train and socialize a male iguana. We've had him for about 2 years and haven't been able to break him from his aggression. We just had a (human) baby and don't feel that it's fair to the iguana that he needs to be locked away all the time now. This one's not a great pet for families but feel he could thrive in the right environment. Please email me if you are interested. Thanks, Steve

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-08-00640Ball Python

Reptile/Amphibian    Age: Senior

I currently have a very docile ball python who I cant get to eat. He was eating fine for the first 8 or so months I had him, but for the past five months he just wont eat. He has a large tank with adequate moisture, heat, water, housing, and bedding. Im not sure what to do, Ive tried everything I can and it would break my heart if he died under my care. My goal is to rehome him to someone who may be able to help him and care for him. Ive had snakes before and never encountered this problem. I dont care about money, I just want him to go to a loving home with prefferrably an experienced reptile owner, all I ask is that you can pick him up.

PIease Read Before Adopting Reptiles & More in Florida
Reptiles & More can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. Reptiles are interesting animals. Many types of reptiles and amphibians are kept as exotic pets. Snakes, turtles, iguanas, and frogs are popular examples. Keeping a reptile as a pet is a tremendous responsibility. Many reptile owners discover that owning a reptile is not as rewarding as they had hoped. Reptiles do not bond with people the way mammals can, and are sometimes neglected for that reason. Also, many people purchase young, small reptiles without being aware of or prepared for their eventual adult size. For example, Burmese Pythons are often bought as pets when they are about two feet long. However, many do not realize that Burmese Pythons are among the largest snakes in the world, with adults averaging 23 feet in length and weighing hundreds of pounds! There is now an established invasive population of Burmese Pythons in Florida due to pet owners releasing the snakes into the wild. Scientists believe these huge snakes will keep spreading out and will one day inhabit one third of the United States! Some owners are not prepared for the long lifespan of a pet reptile. Some species of turtles are known for their extreme longevity. Iguanas can grow to be six feet long and then live for 20 years. Sadly, many captive reptiles suffer from dehydration and kidney problems, poor nutrition, and all other manner of neglect. A person who is truly ready to commit to a reptile pet can alleviate some suffering by adopting an animal rather than purchasing new.
